Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English ]

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While gambling on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world may be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
