No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
