No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
