Ah, the poker tilt. If a poker gambler claims never to have looked over the barrel of an approaching tilt – they’re either telling a lie or they haven’t been competing very long. This doesn’t mean of course that each and every one has gone on tilt in the past, a handful of players have wonderful control and take their losses as a hit and keep it at that. To be a good poker player, it’s especially critical to appraise your wins and your defeats in a similar manner – with no emotion. You play the match the same way you did after taking a hard loss like you would after winning a huge hand. Most of the poker pros are not charmed by tilting following a horrible beat as they are highly seasoned and you really should be to.
You need to understand that you won’t win each and every hand you are in, regardless if you are the front runner. Hands which normally make players to go on tilt are hands you were the favorite or at least believed you were up until you were side swiped and you burned a big portion of your bankroll. Awful defeats are going to develop. Accept that reality right now, I’ll say it once again – if your brother enjoys cards, if your parents play cards, if your grandparents play cards – We all have bad defeats sometime. It’s an inevitable outcome of playing Texas Holdem, or for that matter any kind of poker.
After all we are assumingly (almost all of us) in the game for a single purpose – to make $$$$, it will make sense that we will play accordingly to maximize profits. Now let us say you are up one hundred dollars off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you take a gigantic blow in a No Limits game and your stack is at one hundred and twenty dollars. You’ve squandered eighty dollars in a hand where you were assured to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and held a ten to one advantage. And that amateur! He sucked you out on the river? – Well stop right there. This is a classic choice for a fresh bettor to begin tilting. They just blew too much money on one hand that they should have won and they’re angry
