No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
