No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 where he liked taking part in numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting very competitive in these particular card games as he was playing his dad. After graduating from secondary school, Howard made a decision to place higher education on hold for a bit and moved away to New York to compete in some big-time chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s first two years were tough as he would play many hours and lose most times. He earned some additional money by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he could improve his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an effort to get more rest and focus more on poker.

The definite improvement in his skills began when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable players would often play against each other. He was able to access several of the best minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard Lederer would tweak his strategic thinking skills. He used these strategic ideas in the game of NL texas hold’em.

Howard Lederer also helped his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of poker as she would always be asking questions about how to make the correct choice. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to move out to Las Vegas and compete in the WSOP competition. She is one of the greatest female players the poker arena ever. He headed to Las Vegas in 1993 and participated in money games for the successive 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to compete in more tournaments.
