Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the final table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world could be players you have never heard of. Gus can be found participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
