NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
