Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
