No-Limit Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he liked participating in different card games when he was young. He found himself becoming very aggressive in these particular card games as he was competing against his father. After finishing high school, Howard made a decision to put college on hold for a little bit and relocated to New York City to play some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s initial two years were difficult as he played many hours and don’t win most times. He earned some extra money by being an runner for the poker players. He believed he might boost his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He brought about an effort to get more sleep and focus more on poker.

The actual improvement in his skills happened when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would often challenge each other. Howard was able to access a few of the best minds in chess. With their help, Howard would tweak his strategic thinking skills. Howard applied these strategic concepts to the game of NL texas hold’em.

Howard also assisted his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a superb student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. He told Annie Duke to move out to Vegas and compete in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the strongest women players the poker world today. Howard moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the following 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
