Online Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While gambling on internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
