Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
